Challenge League Sixteenth Round

JFA Academy Fukushima  0 - 2  Fukuoka J. Anclas
(Attendance: 140)

With many of the Academy's players away playing in the Under 15's championships, those left behind did their best against promotion-chasing Fukuoka J. Anclas. Indeed the Academy had so few players and they started with two of their goalkeepers outfield and named no substitutes whatsoever. Two goals four minutes either side of the break were enough to settle the game, Shibuya Yumiko headed in the first and in the second Hirata Hikari, once again making a substitute appearance, scored her eighth of the season to seal the victory and take Fukuoka to within two points of Sfida Setagaya in fourth position. They need to win again against Shizuoka Sangyo next Sunday; the Academy will fully expect to beat Hoyo Sukarabu on the same day.

AS Elfen Sayama FC  9 - 0  Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies
(Attendance: 406)

Cerezo Osaka Sakai's young players held Sayama at bay well for much of this game, only trailing at the break by a single goal. It was a different matter in the second half as the older and more experienced Sayama players ran riot to finish the weekend in second place, and in pole position for automatic promotion. Five of Sayama's goals came in the final ten minutes and additional time, as they tried to build as good a goal difference as possible in advance of the final run-in. Highlights included a hat-trick for Arakawa Eriko and a brace for Azami Rie. Sayama are away to Nagano next weekend, with Cerezo Osaka Sakai hosting Nittaidai.

Japan Soccer College Ladies  2 - 0  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 89)

Ehime have made little progress this season and it was no surprise that they fell to their fifth loss in seven games. Toriumi Mai scored her fifth goal in five consecutive games to give the home side the lead in the first half and despite the best efforts of Nakada Maiko and Akune Mana, the visitors couldn't find a way through the much-improved JSCL defence. Ten minutes into the second half Niiho Madoka scored the winner with Toriumi supplying the final ball. The JSCL now move ahead of Ehime into tenth position though have played two games more. With this victory they have ensured their survival for this season. They next play away to Tokiwagi Gakuen on the eighteenth, while Ehime hope for much better against Pleiades next weekend.

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita  5 - 3  Sfida Setagaya FC
(Attendance: 172)

Sfida Setagaya lost their second consecutive game, and their third in five, to leave their promotion hopes badly damaged with six games to play. They remain in the play-off place but will have to improve if they are not to be overtaken by Fukuoka J. Anclas just two points behind. Today's opponents Shizuoka Sangyo move to within ten points of Setagaya with a games in hand, though it looks as though they will have to settle for another season in the Challenge League. The home side took the lead when Sayama Momoko scored a penalty in the ninth minute, and the team's youngest player Shirai Aoi scored the second after 22 minutes, following up when Hirano's shot came back off the crossbar. Setagaya were stunned, but a goal in additional time from Tanaka Marina gave them hope, and in the opening minutes of the second half the comeback was complete with goals from Mori Hitomi and Tomiyama Hitomi. Shizuoka Sangyo weren't going to lie down, and they responded with three goals of their own in a nine minute spell from Ogata Yurika, Oda Kanna and Sayama with her second of the afternoon. Setagaya should get back to winning ways next weekend against Kagoshima, and will be determined to score as many goals as possible; Shizuoka Sangyo will travel to play Fukuoka in high spirits.

Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades  0 - 5  Bunnys Kyoto SC
(Attendance: 145)

Having struggled hitherto to score goals, Bunnys scored five against the hapless Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades, with captain Toyoda Nayuha scoring her first hat-trick for the side since joining before the season. Goalkeeper Konno Mai, who joined just before the start of the season from Barnet FC Ladies, kept a clean sheet and indeed has done so for all five of Bunnys' victories to date. Toyoda scored her first as early as the second minute, with Kushige Aoi adding another just after the half-hour mark. Two more for Toyoda in the second half were added to by Tanihara - her first of the season. Pleiades still look likely to survive, as the two teams below them look less and less capable of picking up points, and also have an inferior goal difference. Bunnys begin a run of five very difficult games, with Pleiades hoping for better against Ehime next weekend.

Nojima Stella Kanagawa moved back into the top three with a four goal second half blitz against Nagano today in Sagamihara. Nagano had matched the hosts in the first half but following the break Nojima stepped up the pace and they produced four goals in twelve minutes to decide the contest. Inoue Yurie scored her twelfth of the season on 64 minutes, and she supplied the final ball for Kinjo to score just a minute later. In the 72nd minute Yoshimi Natsuki, dropped to the bench for the first time this season, scored the third and fellow substitute Nagasawa scored her fourth goal in five appearances four minutes later.
