Nadeshiko League Division 2 Second Round

A crushing five-goal victory for Nojima Stella puts them top of the division on goal difference, with two goals from Kawashima Haruna the highlight. Fellow JFA Academy graduate Tanaka Yoko scored the final goal, with Minamino Arisa and Gonno Takako also getting themselves on the scoresheet. The scoreline reflects how this season is likely to go for both sides. Ehime next face the JSCL and should fare better, Nojima host Nagano in the first meeting of the top two sides.

Nagano again showed their potential in beating promotion-chasing rivals Setagaya away from home. Tomari Shiho, one of three players to have joined from Urawa, scored her first ever league goal just before half-time, and this was added to by an own goal to give the visitors the win. Nagano again play away in Kanto next weekend, with an even stronger promotion-chasing rival in wait, Nojima Stella. Setagaya will expect a win away to distant Fukuoka.

Harima were denied all three points last week against Ehime and seemed destined to suffer the same fate today, but a late goal just moments after Kibi had equalised gave them their first win of the season. Chiba Sonoko's lead goal was replied to by Goya Eriko, a first year student at Kibi scoring her first league goal, and Goya did likewise from the spot with three minutes remaining, Kondo having earlier restored the hosts' lead. Just as Kibi seemed to have rescued a point, Sato popped up to head home a cross from substitute Saito Manami and win the game for Harima. Kibi are next at home to bottom side Ange Violet while Harima have a stiff test away to Nittaidai.

Nittaidai have started the season in fine style, with this second consecutive win coming courtesy of the reliable pairing of Nagashima Hikari and Sakurai Mayuka. Nagashima headed in from a corner kick in just the second minute, though the home side equalised soon after through Mizuno Yuri, also via a header. Nittaidai kept up the pressure and made several chances, Sakurai finally converting one with fifteen minutes remaining.

Ange Violet play Kibi in a Chugoku derby next Sunday; Nittaidai host Harima a day earlier.
