Challenge League Second Round

Yamato Sylphid  2 - 1  Yokohama FC Seagulls

Yamato Sylphid accomplished their first ever league victory today with a 2-1 win over locals rivals Yokohama FC Seagulls, who are still seeking their first win. Two goals from Matsuyama did the trick, the second of which came just a minute after the Seagulls had equalised.

Yokohama had far more of the chances in the game and will hope to make them count next week when they face Norddea. Yamato travel north to face Tokiwagi Gakuen.

Kobayashi Rikako and Kuratani Narumi scored a brace each as Tokiwagi Gakuen eased to their first win of the season over the NUHW. The home side had a late consolation, a goal from Yamaya Ruka. Tokiwagi Gakuen are at home next week to Yamato on Saturday; the NUHW travel to division leaders Tsukuba.

Despite continuous pressure on their goal, Nagoya was able to snatch all three points from this fixture for their first ever league win. Kuwate Chisa was the goal-scoring heroine and Takahashi Miharu did her utmost in goal to foil the Academy. Nagoya travel to Kyushu to face bottom side Kumamoto hopeful of another three points; the division favourites from the Academy are at home to Bunnys.

A third goal of the season after just two games for Shibata Kanaho gave Tsukuba the lead but Mori Misato, a veteran of Norddea's earlier Challenge League campaign, equalised minutes later. Hirano Kiyomi was sent off for Tsukuba after sixty-four minutes and they will have been pleased with a draw that keeps them top. They next play the NUHW, with Norddea away again in Yokohama.

Cerezo Osaka Sakai stay top with a 100% record after an easy three-goal win over Kumamoto. Takarada Saori didn't score at all in 2014 but she got her name on the scoresheet twice today, along with Katsuoka Miyu. Furusawa Rui, the oldest team member, turned eighteen on Saturday and this will be the final year in school for several players. Cerezo Osaka Sakai are away to Shizuoka Sangyo next week while Kumamoto host Nagoya.

Shizuoka Sangyo appeared to have all three points won with just thirty minutes gone, but Bunnys fought back hard to take a point with five minutes remaining. Ishida, Okuda and Hirano were the Shizuoka scorers as they led 3-0, but crucially Bunnys scored twice before half-time to lift themselves, their goals coming from Hanazaki and Kushige, the second from the spot. With five minutes remaining a shot against the bar from Sawada Yuka was followed up by Matsuda Nozomi and Bunnys won their first point of the season. They next play the JFA Academy with Shizuoka Sangyo at home to Cerezo Osaka Sakai.
