Challenge League Ninth Round

This match was played on June 14th

The Niigata University of Health and Welfare were desperate for a win today to keep them clear of the bottom and Fukasawa's very early goal gave them the lead as they dominated proceedings. However Tokiwagi Gakuen reasserted themselves and were level soon after the restart, Kobayashi Rikako scoring off a Takahashi Anna pass. Kobayashi herself then turned provider for Doi Asuka for the lead goal three minutes later and just five minutes after this goal came another from Furudate Chito, the substitute scoring her first goal for the school. The NUHW had no response and stay fifth in the table; Tokiwagi Gakuen again lead the way.

Narumi Wakana, back in the starting lineup for the first time in three games, repaid her manager's confidence within nine minutes of the start of this important tiea against Tsukuba. The home side couldn't add to this early goal but it was enough as Tsukuba had few clear chances, and they stay bottom having not won since the opening weekend. Norddea Hokkaido are fourth, six points off the top.

Cerezo Osaka's latest crushing victory means that they are now within touching distance of the West Division title. With Bunnys Kyoto thirteen points behind, a win over Bunnys this weekend would give the Sakai team an unassailable lead. By half-time Cerezo Osaka Sakai were three goals to the good, Maegawa, Matsubara and Tamazakura all getting on the scoresheet. In the second half they continued to pile on the pressure, Takarada scoring a brace before Hayashi and Nishida added more. Kumamoto scored a penalty but it was not much of a consolation and they remain in trouble, two points off the bottom.

The biggest Challenge League crowd of the season say the home side take a very early lead, with Fujikake Mayu scoring past Onodera Shiho, who made her 300th appearance today. Naito Yuka equalised with her third goal of the season ten minutes before half-time, but the home side were the best side throughout and they retook the lead in the second half, Yamamoto Emi with just her second of the season. This win puts the Seagulls top of the table with six games remaining, while Yamato are now four points behind.
