Challenge League Fifth Round

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  1 - 3  Yokohama FC Seagulls
(Attendance: 150)

A third consecutive win for Yokohama puts them top with five games of the season played, and again Yoshida Mizuki made the difference. It was Tokiwagi who took the lead, Ichise Nana heading in a corner kick after Yokohama goalkeeper Asari Maya flapped at and missed the cross. The home side's joy lasted barely a minute, as Yoshida headed in at the other end, goalkeeper Ono Asuka caught out well off her line.

In the second half the visitors began to dominate the game and another goal from Yoshida, ably assisted by Sato, was quickly followed by a third, and first in the league for Fujikake Mayu.

Tokiwagi Gakuen play next week against Norddea Hokkaido, all other Challenge League teams have a week off. Yokohama next play against Tsukuba on the sixteenth.

Yokohama started with the same lineup which had defeated Tsukuba last week

Ichise Nana (#8) heads into the net to give Tokiwagi Gakuen the lead

Kanagawa University graduate Muta Kaori had a part in her side's first two goals

The Seagulls' youngest player, Sato Nagisa, tormented Tokiwagi Gakuen down the left wing

Another young player, Miyashita Nanami, was impressive in a defensive role

A good run from Sato led to this subtle ball through Ichise's legs...

and the chance was finished expertly by Yoshida Mizuki, the Challenge League's top scorer

Fujikake Mayu celebrated her goal rather more nonchalantly than her team mates

In goal for Tokiwagi Gakuen, Ono Asuka made some good catches like this,
but at other times was indecisive

Niigata University of Health and Welfare  6 - 3  Norddea Hokkaido
(Attendance: 120)

A timely first win for the NUHW in their debut season came today at the expense of Norddea Hokkaido who now drop to bottom. Takahashi Miyuki scored a first-half hat-trick to set them on their way with Kai Sorami also scoring to give the hosts a four-goal lead. Norddea pulled one back after the break through Kannari Miki, and the two sides continued to score freely as first Kaneshige Sari scored a fifth for the NUHW and then Sanogawa and Mori scored for the visitors to make it 5-3 with just under fifteen minutes remaining. The NUHW ultimately had the last say, Fukasawa Miki scoring a sixth in additional time to underline their superiority.

The NUHW and Norddea thus swap places in the table, and Norddea will have to work hard if they are to move off the bottom next week as they visit Tokiwagi Gakuen. Like most teams, the NUHW have a week off and will play Yamato on the seventeenth.
