The 35th Empress' Cup - Second Round Results

Second Round Matches, ties played Saturday 30th of November and Sunday 1st of December:

Match 13:
Nittaidai FC Ladies  1 - 2  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 250)

Both sides were especially determined today, with the knowledge that the winner would take on INAC Kobe Leonessa in Tokyo. Just as in last year's tie between the two sides, Uemura Shoko scored to give Nittaidai the lead, this time on 60 minutes. Although Ehime were under severe pressure they didn't panic and gained revenge or last year's defeat with two late goals from Yamashiro Miyuki and Kushiyama Saki. Ehime will undoubtedly be very excited about taking on Japan's premier team. Due to a clash with the International Women's Club Championship, that game will be held on Wednesday, December 11th.

Match 14:
Kanto Gakuen University  2 - 8  FC Kibikokusaidaigaku Charme
(Attendance: 150)

Having only beaten Kanto Gakuen on penalties in the Inter-Collegiate Championships last year, Kibi were determined to go on the attack early to prevent any mishaps this year. Takahashi Chiho scored the first after just three minutes, with Nishikawa Asuka adding another four minutes later, and Hamamoto Marin another to make it 3-0 after just fifteen minutes. Two more goals were to follow in the first half, Takano Saki on 29 minutes and Hamamoto with her second in additional time. In the second half the onslaught continued with Hamamoto completing her first hat-trick for the team, and Nishikawa added another for herself. Minamino Arisa and Iwasaki Sumika scored consolation goals for Kanto Gakuen. Kibi had the last say though, with Takahashi Chiho finishing what she started with the final goal two minutes from time. Kibi now take on Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies.

Match 15:
Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  0 - 6  Hinomoto Gakuen Senior High School
(Attendance: 262)

Having overcome top Challenge League side Nojima Stella Kanagawa last weekend, Hinomoto Gakuen did it again with an astonishing victory over Challenge League champions Tokiwagi Gakuen. Yasaka Mei gave her side a dream start with a lead goal after just three minutes. Kojima Wakiko then scored two marvellous goals, one direct from a free kick and the next direct from a corner as Hinomoto took control of the match. Kojima went on to score again in the 36th minute for her hat-trick and Ikegami Mayu added a fifth as Tokiwagi were stunned. Tokiwagi came out in the second half determined but there was to be no comeback as Hinomoto added a sixth through Irie Miki to record a sensational victory - revenge for their loss to Tokiwagi in the Schools' Championships - and now take on Iga FC Kunoichi in Third Round.

Match 16:
Fukui Senior High School  1 - 2  Hooh High School
(Attendance: 120)

Morimoto Suzuka got Fukui Senior High School off to a good start with a goal from the spot in the 28th minute after Yamazaki Nao had been fouled in the box. Yonesato Hinata equalised for Hooh in the 66th minute and right at the death Hazama Mika headed the winner for Hooh when Fukui 'keeper Takahashi Mami failed to collect the ball from a corner kick. Hooh High School now look forward to taking on Vegalta Sendai Ladies.

Match 17:
AS Elfen Sayama FC  2 - 0  Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita
(Attendance: 251)

Recently-promoted Sayama saw off the challenge of Challenge League rivals Shizuoka Sangyo today, with first half goals from Ito Kanako and Saito Yuri enough to see the Saitama outfit through to the Third Round and a meeting with Okayama Yunogo Belle. Shizuoka Sangyo tried hard but rarely threatened the Sayama goal. Their students now prepare for the Inter-Collegiate Championships later this month.

Match 18:
Kamimura Gakuen High School  1 - 6  Sfida Setagaya FC
(Attendance: 250)

Sfida Setagaya were looking to banish their disappointment at having missed out on promotion to the Nadeshiko League with a good Cup run, but it was Schools' Championships runners-up Kamimura Gakuen High School who took the initiative in the first half, scoring through Ogawa Nao. Mori Hitomi equalised for Setagaya just minutes into the second half, and the Challenge League's top scorer had another not long after to turn the tie in favour of the Tokyo side. Usui Rie showed fine skill in beating two defenders to score the third for Setagaya just after the hour mark, and the game was over as a contest when Shimojo Aya made it 4-1 with 18 minutes remaining. Two goals in the last three minutes, one from Shano Miki and the other from Usui completed the rout. Sfida Setagaya now go on to play JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies.

Match 19:
Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki  4 - 1  JFA Academy Fukushima
(Attendance: 268)

Having suffered a dreadful Nadeshiko League season, Takatsuki were determined to bounce back in the Cup and did so emphatically against the JFA Academy. In the space of fourteen minutes in the first half Takatsuki scored four to crush the Academy's hopes of another famous Cup victory. Hamada Haruka headed two of those goals, with another from Maruyama in between, and the fourth was from defender Tsuboi Ayako. Kadoi Megumi pulled one back in the 56th minute, but there was no stopping Takatsuki and they now look for revenge against Albirex Niigata Ladies, who humiliated them in winning by nine goals in their most recent meeting.

Match 20:
Waseda University  4 - 0  Japan Soccer College Ladies
(Attendance: 188)

Waseda University took the lead over the JSCL through Takagi Hikaru when she converted an Ishida cross in the twelfth minute. Watai Shiori converted a penalty when Fukuzawa Manami was fouled in the area. Fukuzawa had one for herself in first half additional time as Waseda were simply too good for the JSCL. Matsukawa Tomo added the fourth midway through the second half, and the JSCL had no answer. Waseda now go on to take on NTV Beleza. Having lost 1-0 to INAC Kobe in the Third Round in the last two seasons, Waseda will be hoping to go one better this year.
