Nadeshiko League Division 1 2006

In 20006 the league was renamed the Nadeshiko League. Division 1 again consisted of eight teams, and its season ran from May 21st until November 4th.


The format used by the league changed once again. For the opening stage a straightforward round robin tournament was employed, again using the system of three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. Each team would play each other twice. A new second stage was introduced, with the top four teams playing each other once more, with the same procedure applying to the bottom four teams. At the end of this second stage the bottom team would be automatically relegated (replaced by the winner of Division 2) and the second-from-bottom would enter a play-off with the Division 2 runners-up.

NTV Beleza won their ninth title, and their second in a row.

Having finished bottom, TEPCO Mareeze were automatically relegated to Division 2. Having finished second from bottom, Speranza FC Takatsuki proceeded to play Ohara Gakuen JaSRA SC who finished second in Division 2 for the right to play in Division 1 in 2007. They lost and were relegated.
