The 37th Empress' Cup Second Round

Second Round Matches, ties played on November 14th and 15th:

Match 17:
Nippon TV Beleza  3 - 1  Fujieda Junshin High School
(Attendance: 420)

Hasegawa Yui scored for Beleza after only five minutes and it appeared that the league champions would run away with this match but Kono Fuka equalised just two minutes later and Fujieda Junshin kept the score level until the fifty-seventh minute when Tanaka Mina found the net for the lead goal. Fujieda Junshin ran out of steam and Tanaka scored her second on seventy-six minutes there was no way back for the schoolgirls.

Match 18:
AS Harima Albion  2 - 2  Waseda University
Waseda University win 3-0 on penalties
(Attendance: 261)

Harima thought they had full control of this game as two goals in the second half from Sato Rina and Fushiki Kaho had them two goals up with fifteen minutes remaining. Waseda University were not going to go out without a fight and scored twice through Yamamoto Maya and Kawano Juri to send the game into extra time. Waseda remained on top but couldn't find a goal and the game went to penalties. Harima missed all three of their spot kicks, Waseda made no mistake with theirs and they progress to meet Beleza next week.

Match 19:
Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki  6 - 0  NGU Nagoya FC Ladies
(Attendance: 277)

Takatsuki put their relegation worries behind them for the moment to record an easy six-goal win over Nagoya. Both Hazuki Yuki and Kitagawa Wakana scored twice, their other two goals coming from Enya Mari and Narumiya Yui.

Match 20:
Iga FC Kunoichi  3 - 0  Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences
(Attendance: 421)

The Osaka students did their best against Iga, but the top division side had enough to see them through. Gloria Douglas scored her first goal in any competition this year to get Iga off to a good start and an own goal at the start of the second half decided the contest. Sugita Ami scored a third for the Kunoichi with five minutes remaining.

Match 21:
Albirex Niigata Ladies  5 - 0  Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Youth
(Attendance: 116)

The Urawa youths did as well as could be expected with a number of their best players away at the AFC U-16 Championship in China. Niigata's goals came from five different scorers: Kamionobe Megumi, Saeki Aya, Oishi Sayaka, Saito Yuri and on her first ever appearance for the club, Kawasaki Saya of Tokiwagi Gakuen High School.

Match 22:
Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara  3 - 1  Nippon TV Menina
(Attendance: 142)

Menina took the lead in this game through Hara Ibuki in the sixty-sixth minute but Nagasawa Madoka equalised very shortly after for Nojima, and they went on to score twice more through Minamino Arisa and Yoshimi Natsuki to move on to the third round.

Match 23:
Nittaidai Fields Yokohama  5 - 1  Kamimura Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 122)

Nittaidai breezed past Kamimura Gakuen and into the next round with both Hirata Hikari and Uemura Shoko scoring braces and Uchida Misuzu getting on the scoresheet for the first time this season. Kamimura Gakuen's goal came from Hashitani Suguri.

Match 24:
JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies  1 - 0  Sfida Setagaya FC
(Attendance: 143)

This match was not nearly as close as the scoreline suggests though JEF United will be relieved to be through to the next round, their only goal today coming from Kawamura Mari.

Match 25:
Vegalta Sendai Ladies  3 - 0  Japan Soccer College Ladies
(Attendance: 329)

The Japan Soccer College held Sendai to a scoreless draw at half-time but Yasumoto Sawako opened the scoring two minutes after the restart and their was no way back for the students. In the final six minutes Nishikawa Asuka and Manya Miho both scored their first ever goals for Sendai, the latter coming on Manya's debut for the club.

Match 26:
Ehime FC Ladies  2 - 3  Daito Bunka University
(Attendance: 185)

Daito Bunka University provided the surprise result of the Second Round, beating Ehime 3-2 to move on to a big challenge against Vegalta Sendai. Ehime twice led, Kawamura Akari and Oya Ayumi their scorers but each time the students from Saitama replied, with Murayama Momoka scoring twice. The winner, scored six minutes from time, came from Yamazaki Wakana.

Match 27:
Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies  5 - 0  Yokohama FC Seagulls
(Attendance: 749)

The Seagulls are looking forward to playing for promotion to Division 2 later this year, though there is still a considerable gap to the top division sides, with Urawa today simply too much for them to contain. Osafune Kana, Kira Chinatsu, Naomoto Hikaru and Kishikawa Natsuki all scored before half-time and with two minutes remaining Shiraki Akari added a fifth.

Match 28:
AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies  6 - 1  Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita
(Attendance: 1,192)

Shizuoka Sangyo held Nagano scoreless until half-time and will have felt that they should have been ahead, having failed to take advantage of some opportunities to score. Yajima Yuki finally got the lead goal for Nagano eight minutes into the second half, but Kubota Mitsuki equalised just seconds later for Shizuoka Sangyo. They couldn't keep Nagano out though, and the Division 2 champions scored five times in the final thirty minutes. There were two for Yokoyama Kumi, and one each for Kunisawa Shino, Saito Akane and Tomari Shiho.

Match 29:
Okayama Yunogo Belle  3 - 1  Yamato Sylphid
(Attendance: 884)

Belle were dominant against Yamato Sylphid but after Ishibuchi Yuki equalised Matsuoka Miki's opener to leave the score tied at half-time, the Okayama side relied on two goals from substitute Elizabeth Eddy to see them through.

Match 30:
AS Elfen Saitama  2 - 0  FC Kibikokusaidaigaku Charme
(Attendance: 81)

Relegated Saitama went ahead of Kibi after twenty-one minutes, Sugihara Haruna heading in her first goal for her new club and late in additional time Sarah Gregorius scored a second.

Match 31:
Ange Violet Hiroshima  2 - 1  Hinomoto Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 68)

Hiroshima scored twice in quick succession midway through the first half, Mizuno Yuri and Saito Hitomi the scorers, and although a goal from Hiratsuki Maki with fifteen minutes remaining made it interesting, Hiroshima held on for the win.

Match 32:
INAC Kobe Leonessa  4 - 0  Bunnys Kyoto SC
(Attendance: 1,264)

INAC Kobe were never likely to be in any trouble against Bunnys Kyoto, and so it proved as goals from Nakada Ayu, Kawasumi Nahomi and a brace from Masuya Rika saw the Kobe side go through easily to the next round.
