Challenge League Tenth Round

NGU Nagoya FC Ladies  3 - 1  Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita
(Attendance: 227)

This match was played on June 13th

Nagoya did both themselves and Cerezo Osaka Sakai a favour as they beat Shizuoka Sangyo to move off the bottom and simultaneously bring the West division title a game closer for their young western neighbours. Sato Ao scored a hat-trick, her first goals ever in the league as Nagoya simply overpowered their guests, for whom Ishida Risa pulled one back.

Cerezo Osaka Sakai now lead by nine points with a game in hand over Shizuoka Sangyo, who themselves are only six points off the bottom. Nagoya's win moves them into fifth, two points ahead of the JFA Academy, who will be horrified to find themselves bottom of the division.

Bunnys Kyoto SC  1 - 2  Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies
(Attendance: 229)

Cerezo Osaka Sakai won the West Division today in dramatic fashion as they came back from a goal down to win the game with seven minutes remaining. Shibuya Yumiko came back into the Bunnys side and scored her first goal of the season after fifteen minutes. Bunnys had very few chances and were holding on throughout the entire game, but their young opponents were not to be denied, and with their eighth and sixth goals this year respectively, Takarada Saori and Hayashi Honoka won the game for the Challenge League's most impressive side.

Bunnys are still second, but with the chasing pack close behind. Cerezo Osaka Sakai are thus the first side into the end-of-season playoffs, with a third of the games still to be played.

Tsukuba FC Ladies  0 - 3  Tokiwagi Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 563)

Tsukuba's only win in the league remains their opening day victory over Tokiwagi Gakuen and that victory now seems a long time ago. Today the schoolgirls made no mistake and two goals from in-form Kobayashi Rikako and one from Furudate Chiho, her second in two games, were enough to see off the challenge of the division's bottom side.

Tokiwagi Gakuen are top of the division, and can move further ahead if they beat Tsukuba again on July 12th, in one of only two Challenge League games in that month.

Norddea Hokkaido  2 - 1  Yamato Sylphid
(Attendance: 526)

Another dramatic game saw Norddea Hokkaido snatch a victory just as it seemed that Yamato had snatched a draw. A first-half penalty kick scored by Hoshiyama gave the home side the lead, which they held until the final minute, when Matsuyama Tomo scored her fifth goal this season to equalise. The visiting Yamato's joy was short-lived however, as Norddea went straight up the other end and won the game with a goal off a corner kick. Norddea move into third as a result, with Yamato dropping to fourth.

Niigata University of Health and Welfare  1 - 0  Yokohama FC Seagulls
(Attendance: 37)

A game which Yokohama completely dominated took a surprise twist with nine minutes remaining when Kaneshige Sari ran on to a through ball from captain Kai Sorami to give the NUHW a much needed victory, one which moves them six points clear of the bottom. Yokohama thus miss the chance to stay top of the East division and will be furious with themselves. The next game for both sides is a rematch in Yokohama on August 1st.
