Nadeshiko League Fifth Round

Albirex Niigata Ladies  0 - 1  Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies
(Attendance: 1,275)

In a game of very few scoring chances, in particular for the home side, Urawa took home all three points to keep themselves three points clear at the top of the table. Sakamoto came back into the Urawa starting lineup in place of Usui Rie, with Niigata unchanged.

The only goal of the game came after fifteen minutes, Kira Chinatsu putting away her second of the season. A straightforward clearance was missed entirely by a Niigata defender and Kira was on hand to score easily.

Urawa's next challenge is to see off the in-form Okayama Yunogo Belle at home, while Niigata also play in Saitama, away to struggling AS Elfen Saitama.

AS Elfen Saitama  0 - 4  Iga FC Kunoichi
(Attendance: 525)

A crushing victory for Iga away to Saitama gave them their first win and some relief ahead of their trip to high-flying Vegalta Sendai. The Kunoichi were unchanged but Saito Yuri returned for Saitama, with Sugiyama Takako returning to the bench.

Iga have hitherto had trouble scoring, though against poor opposition were quickly into their stride, Kobayashi Makiko scoring her first of the season after within minutes. A hoofed ball from Yamaguchi Ayako was picked up by Ogawa Shiho close to the goal line and having beaten her marker she slid the ball delicately to the near post when Kobayashi had no trouble beating Yamago.

Saitama tried hard throughout the first half but Iga held firm and in the second half the home side had no answer to the relenting Iga pressure. With less than a minute of the second period played, a layoff from Ogawa found Sugita Ami bursting into the area, and she was awarded a penalty when felled by Takeyama Yuko. Sugita's teammates insisted she take the kick herself and everyone was suitable delighted when she scored her first ever goal for the club, placing the ball into the bottom left as is her custom.

Three minutes later the match was decided as Matsunaga Yoshie found the net for her first goal of the season. A fine cross from Kobayashi found Tsutsumi and her gently weighted ball to Matsunaga saw her finish with aplomb.

A fourth goal for Iga, and a second for Sugita, rounded off a perfect day for the visitors. Again Saitama struggled down the right, and Ogawa had no trouble finding Haji Madoka free in the box, and she in turn found Sugita unmarked in front of goal and she made no mistake.

Iga hope to continue their good form away to Vegalta Sendai, while Saitama will hope to be more defensively sound as they again play at home next weekend, this time against Niigata.

Nippon TV Beleza  0 - 1  Okayama Yunogo Belle
(Attendance: 1,809)

The visiting Okayama Yunogo Belle restricted Beleza to only three shots in their first meeting of the season and took home all three points as they moved up to third in the table. Matsuoka Miki was again the scorer for Belle, as she capitalised on defensive errors and uncertainty to score her fourth of the season.

Arimachi Saori won the ball and found Asano Miki free on the right wing. Her cross across the face of goal was missed by Shimizu who got caught up in a tangle with Nakano and Matsuoka was all alone and scored very easily.

Miyama Aya hit the crossbar in Belle's best chance in the second half, and with Beleza struggling to get anything going up front, the visitors were able to hang on for a very welcome victory. Belle again travel to Kanto next weekend, when they face leaders Urawa. Beleza make the short trip to Ichihara to take on JEF United at noon on Saturday.

INAC Kobe Leonessa  1 - 1  JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies

(Attendance: 2,909)

INAC Kobe brought Isokane back into defence replacing Watanabe Ayaka, with Tanaka Yoko making way for Nakada Ayu. JEF United made one change, bringing in Anzai Yuka for Hosaka Nodoka.

Kyokawa Mai looked lively on the left early in the game and almost found Takase in front of goal but the JEF defence was sound. On the right, Takase continued to find herself in space as INAC began to boss midfield.

For JEF, much of their energy was coming from Anzai Yuka and her interception and ambitious forward run allowed Sugasawa to get a good shot off. From the resulting corner JEF took the lead, with Setoguchi Kozue scoring her very first League goal. Kaihori couldn't reach the ball and Setoguchi didn't wait to strike the ball home from well outside the area, with a deflection off Kyokawa helping it past Kaihori.

Having started with much hurry and bluster, INAC Kobe looked unsure of themselves following the concession of this goal and JEF United started to disrupt their illustrious opponents in midfield. In the 30th minute Ikadai hit the inside of the post when sent clear by Fukusawa, who had intercepted the ball well.

INAC had little by way of response to this state of affairs and it wasn't until the 38th minute that they had another decent attacking opportunity, the ball dropping loose after Yamane had failed to collect a cross, though Isokane is not known for scoring and her shot was well wide.

No changes were made by either side at half-time, and JEF again went relentlessly on the attack, with Anzai Yuka again causing all kinds of trouble down the right. INAC's younger players such as Masuya and Kyokawa looked the most likely to do damage for INAC though the JEF defence remained strong and resolute.

JEF continued throughout the half to dominate INAC in the midfield, intercepting passes almost at will as INAC's players increasingly looked uninterested. Ito Miki and Watanabe Ayaka came on for the home side in the 63rd minute for Nakada and Minamiyama.

INAC continued to rely on Masuya's speed down the right and she played in Takase for another shot at goal, but it was weak and at a very tight angle and presented no danger to Yamane. Kawamura had done well to continue following her injury but was taken off in the 66th minute, replaced by Hosaka.

In the 73rd minute Takase had a good heading chance as Yamane flapped at a Noguchi cross but there was no one to pick up the loose ball and JEF cleared. It was Yamane to the rescue again as Kyokawa powered in a header from Nakajima's free kick in the 82nd minute, but it was the JEF goalkeeper's mistake that allowed Takase to equalise, rushing out from her goal to intercept a Nakajima through ball and Takase was able to lob the ball over her to score.

Anzai was replaced by Matsuura for the final few minutes as JEF were caught in two minds: whether to attack and claim all three points or whether to hold on for a draw against a revitalised opposition. In the end INAC were finishing the stronger and JEF did well to keep their shape and claim the point, though they will feel that they deserved all three.

INAC Kobe again looked lethargic in this game though will expect three points away to Kibi next weekend, while JEF United will be full of hope as they welcome Beleza, who lost for the first time today.

INAC Kobe Leonessa:
Kaihori Ayumi, Noguchi Ayaka, Kai Junko, Miyake Shiori, Isokane Midori, Minamiyama Chiaki, Nakajima Emi, Masuya Rika, Kyokawa Mai, Takase Megumi (capt), Nakada Ayu

FC Kibikokusaidaigaku Charme  0 - 3  Vegalta Sendai Ladies

(Attendance: 916)

Kibi fell to another defeat and had very few positives to take away from this loss to Vegalta Sendai. Kibi rotated goalkeepers again, Isashi Kaede coming in for Morimoto Kiyo and Noma Fumika started up front in place of Kurakazu Shiho. Kakazu Asuka made her first starting appearance for Sendai this season, replacing Yasumoto Sawako.

Sendai's attacking strength was too much for Kibi to withstand, and they eventually found the breakthrough in the 31st minute, Ono Hitomi scoring her second goal of the season Takara Ryoko after good interplay between the Sendai midfield and attack.

Hamada Haruka had her first goal in Sendai colours in the 58th minute, when she finished off after Isashi failed to hold onto Yamamoto's header. Takara Ryoko scored her first of the season, flighting a fine ball into the corner of the net, Kibi having failed to clear the ball from a succession of corner kicks. Later, there was more good news for Sendai as Koyama Kie made her first appearance in over a year following injury.

Vegalta Sendai stay second, and next Sunday entertain Iga, with Kibi hoping for something extraordinary at home to INAC Kobe Leonessa.

Challenge League Fourth Round

Fukuoka J. Anclas  0 - 2  Ange Violet Hiroshima
(Attendance: 241)

Fukuoka J. Anclas' hopes of promotion before the start of the season have been dashed over the opening three weekends, and against Ange Violet Hiroshima they must have felt the need to turn things around immediately. They made one change to the side which lost to Ehime, Fujimoto Yuki returning to the starting lineup in place of Fukui Shihori. Ange Violet were unchanged.

Just as in last week's victory over Cerezo Osaka Sakai, Ange Violet took an early lead through Ichikawa Sonoka, with carelessness at the back for Fukuoka causing trouble for goalkeeper Shimada and her hurried clearance fell straight to Ichikawa who scored with ease.

Hiroshima were to hold this lead until half-time, and things were to get worse for Fukuoka in the 68th minute, as the visitors scored again, Enya Mari with her first league goal, beating Shimada one-on-one.

Fukuoka thus went bottom of the table with Sunday's games to be played, and the task now for manager Tsushima Takeshi will be to reorganise the team and aim for stability, starting next Saturday against Nojima. Ange Violet move up the table, and will hope that this success will help attract another large attendance next Sunday at home to Bunnys Kyoto.

Fukuoka J. Anclas:

Nittaidai Football Club Ladies  0 - 0  Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki
(Attendance: 176)

Having seen off the challenge of last week's league leaders Nojima, Nittaidai faced new leaders Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki in Yokohama today, with Kojima and Nozu coming in for Enokidani and Ishii. Takatsuki made no changes to the side which destroyed Bunnys.

Nittaidai's defence was well organised and Takatsuki's strikeforce made little impression on Matsuda's goal, though Nittaidai had few chances of their own. In the 71st minute Nittaidai brought on Hirata Hikari to partner Uemura in attack in hopes of making the breakthrough but defences continued to dominate and the game ended in a goalless stalemate.

Takatsuki stay top, at least until tomorrow, and next week are at home to Ehime. Nittaidai travel to Sakai to take on Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies.

Nittaidai Football Club Ladies:
Matsuda Kasumi, Sakurai Mayuka, Haza Hisui, Abe Rie, Oki Shiho, Ito Yukina (capt), Goto Ami, Kojima Wakiko, Nozu Erika, Maegami Eri, Uemura Shoko

Ehime FC Ladies  3 - 5  Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara
(Attendance: 210)

An extraordinary game in Uwajima ultimately saw Nojima Stella come away with a badly needed win, as they stay in touch with the leaders in the Challenge League.

Ehime went two goals up after half an hour, Kushiyama Saki with the first and Kawamura Akari - who had replaced Ogawa Manami in the starting lineup - with the second. Nojima were the more phyiscal side, and Ehime were beginning to get worn out even in the first half. In the 36th minute Nojima pulled one back, Kanai Nanane the scorer.

Just after half-time Nojima equalised through and own goal and Ehime looked doomed, but went back in the lead through new recruit Watai Shiori, scoring her second of the season following a fine counter-attack.

Nojima's pressure paid off in the end. In a six minute spell late in the half, Kawarazaki Nozomi equalised and Kanai scored twice more to complete her hat-trick as the visitors moved onto nine points, and on Saturday welcome the struggling Fukuoka J. Anclas. Ehime are stuck in mid-table on six points, and face another difficult test on Sunday when they travel to Takatsuki.

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita  0 - 0  AS Harima Albion
(Attendance: 130)

AS Harima Albion's impressive series of successive wins in their opening games came to an end today, as Shizuoka Sangyo held them to a goalless draw.

Harima stay fourth on ten points, which all four top teams now stand on. Shizuoka Sangyo sit on four points from as many games, and are missing Sayama Momoko's versatility. The likelihood this year is that promotion will remain a very remote possibility. They next play Setagaya needing a win. Harima will hope to again attract a crowd of over 1,000 when they welcome Nagano.

(Attendance: 115)

Despite the JFA Academy coming under sustained pressure from Setagaya, it was the schoolgirls who took the lead in the 32nd minute, Tachibana Yo with her second of the season finishing off a fine move involving Hirata and Ibaraki.

Setagaya equalised almost immediately, Nagata Maya scoring off a through pass from Hasegawa Aoi. The game remained level until eight minutes from time, with Tomiyama Hitomi scoring her first goal of the season from the spot to give Setagaya all three points.

AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies  9 - 0  Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades
(Attendance: 316)

A crushing victory for Nagano over Shimizu showed the gulf in class between the league's bottom side and almost everyone else. Yokoyama Kumi scored five goals and was involved in all of Uchiyama Tomoyo's four.

Yokoyama has scored in all four of Nagano's games so far, and will hope for more of the same as her side travel to Harima for their first ever meeting. Shimizu will be hoping for an off day from the JSCL when they travel south.

Japan Soccer College Ladies  2 - 2  Tokiwagi Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 275)

An entertaining game which followed the Albirex Niigata - Urawa Red Diamonds match saw both sides lead before Tokiwagi Gakuen graduate Kudo Asami rescue a point for the JSCL.

The home side had taken the lead into half-time, Iwasaki Manami scoring her first of the season. Within fifteen minutes of the restart Tokiwagi had turned it around to lead with goals from Kadowaki Shihomi - her first ever in the league - and from Shiraki Akari, who scored her fourth in three games. Just as Tokiwagi thought they had done enough, Kudo swooped to level things up as the game entered additional time.

The JSCL can move onto seven points with a win over Shimizu next weekend. Back in Miyagi, Tokiwagi Gakuen welcome the JFA Academy back for the first of their two meetings in Tohoku this year.

Nadeshiko League Fourth Round

JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies  1 - 2  Albirex Niigata Ladies
(Attendance: 978)

JEF United made one change to their starting lineup with Hosaka Nodoka, who scored against Kibi last week, coming in for Anzai Yuka. Niigata made two changes, new recruit Sayama Momoko coming into defence replacing Kitahara Kana and forward Hirai Sakina replacing Oishi Sayaka up front.

Niigata had only one chance in the first half, but they took it and went into the break in the lead. Hirai headed down to Yamazaki in midfield and she returned the pass and Hirai was very confident in finishing past Yamane who had come out to the edge of her box to attempt to block.

Niigata went two goals up on sixty-nine minutes, with Kamionobe Megumi their heroine again. With the free kick to be taken from out on the right wing, Yamane and her defenders assumed that Kamionobe would swing the ball in for her teammates to attack, but instead she went directly for goal and with Yamane slow to react the ball found the back of the net to give the visitors another goal against the run of play.

JEF United did get one goal back to set up an exciting finish, Sugasawa Yuika with her fourth of the season, running with determination through the Niigata defence to score.

Niigata held on, and move onto seven points, with JEF United a point behind. Niigata are next at home to leaders Urawa, JEF are away to champions INAC Kobe.

Okayama Yunogo Belle  1 - 1  INAC Kobe Leonessa
(Attendance: 2,415)

Okayama Yunogo Belle were one of the two sides which beat INAC Kobe last season and had high hopes of a repeat at home today, but it was INAC who took the early lead, with Takase supplying Kyokawa Mai in the third minute. The Belle players appealed for offside but didn't get it and Kyokawa couldn't miss from in front of goal, with Takase doing all the work down the left.

In a very even game Belle eventually equalised twenty minutes into the second half, Arimachi Saori latching onto a Miyama pass through the middle, with both players showing exceptional skill.

Belle are fifth in the table, two places and three points ahead of INAC Kobe, and travel to Tokyo next week to take on Beleza. INAC Kobe are at home to JEF United, who have had a very up and down season already.

Vegalta Sendai Ladies  1 - 0  AS Elfen Saitama
(Attendance: 1,252)

Vegalta Sendai had to work very hard to overcome an extremely limited Saitama side which had made four changes to their starting lineup to that which was torn apart by Urawa.

Fan favourite and outstanding midfielder Uetsuji Yumi scored the only goal of the game after seventy minutes, capitalising on Saitama's inability to clear the ball from their box effectively.

Sendai move up to second, three points behind Urawa with Saitama third from bottom, having conceded twelve goals, the highest in the division. Sendai are away to bottom side Kibi next weekend expecting to continue their upward course. Saitama are at home to Iga, one place below them.

Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies  3 - 0  FC Kibikokusaidaigaku Charme
(Attendance: 1,440)

Urawa were too strong for FC Kibi today, for whom relegation is looking more likely with each passing game. Having defended quite well in the opening stages, Kibi fell behind to a Shibata Hanae goal, as she produced a fine dribbling run through the Kibi defence to score after twenty-one minutes. Worse was to follow for the visitors as Goto Michi, banned for last week's game, drifting in unmarked to head in a Usui Rie cross to make it 2-0 before the half-hour mark.

Kibi were making little headway at the other end and by halftime any hope of a comeback looked distant. In the 67th minute Takahashi Chiho gave away her second penalty kick in two games, with Kato Chika scoring the third and final goal from the spot.

Kibi next take on Vegalta Sendai at home hoping for at least a repeat of last year's fixture in which they claimed a point. Leaders Urawa travel to Niigata hoping to maintain their remarkable 100% record.

Iga FC Kunoichi  1 - 1  Nippon TV Beleza
(Attendance: 580)

Iga picked up their first point of the season, but will have been unhappy not to take all three as they allowed Beleza back into the game. Iga made three changes, bringing in goalkeeper Sawada Norimi, Tsutsumi Saki and Ogawa Shiho. Beleza's only change was to bring in U-17 World Cup star Hasegawa Yui for her first start in place of Nakasato Yu.

It was Tsutsumi who opened the scoring in this match, Ogawa heading the ball down to Tsutsumi who juggled the ball before firing an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the goal.

Beleza are made of stern stuff, none more so than Sakaguchi Mizuho, and she scored her third of the season to equalise, with Sawada unable to claim the ball when it was knocked in from a corner kick by Momiki Yuka.

So having had a point snatched away at the death last week by Belle, Iga were denied two by a late goal from Beleza. They next travel to Saitama expecting better against the league's most porous defence. Beleza are at home to Belle.

Challenge League Third Round

Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara  1 - 2  Nittaidai Football Club Ladies
(Attendance: 253)

Nojima fell to their first loss of the season, as local rivals Nittaidai retain their 100% record, again thanks to their third year forward Uemura Shoko, who scored with two minutes remaining after her side had dominated the scoring chances.

Nittaidai took the lead in the eleventh minute, Ishii Chiharu supplying Uemura for her fourth of the season, but Nojima equalised almost immediately through Inoue Yurie. Just as the match seemed to be headed towards a draw, Uemura snatched the winner, with Maeda Risa the supplier this time.

Nittaidai's explosive start to the season keeps them second, with the visit of the leaders Takatsuki next weekend likely to tell us a lot about each side's potential to win the title. Nojima are away to Ehime, with neither side able to afford another loss.

Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki  5 - 0  Bunnys Kyoto SC
(Attendance: 425)

As expected, Takatsuki had far too much for their neighbours Bunnys Kyoto and by half-time their 3-0 lead had already won them the game. An early own goal set things up for the home side, followed by Saito Toshiko's first two goals of the season six minutes apart.

In the second half Shimamura Yuko and Hazuki Yuki added two more to move Takatsuki to the top of the table on goal difference. Bunnys' opening day victory already seems in the distant past, and they'll hope for better against another local rival, Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies on Sunday. Takatsuki go to Nittaidai who are behind only on goal difference.

Ange Violet Hiroshima  4 - 2  Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies
(Attendance: 1,079)

A fine turnout of over 1,000 spectators were on hand to witness Ange Violet's first home game in the league and they were treated to an exciting game. Ange Violet took the lead through Ichikawa Sonoka, their first of the season. Cerezo Osaka equalised on 26 minutes, Tamazakura Kotono with her second in three games. Ange Violet retook the lead three minutes later, this time for good, Mizuno Yuri the scorer.

In the second half Nittaidai graduate Yamagata Hisami headed in from a corner kick to make it 3-1 before Cerezo made it tight again with seven minutes remaining, Nojima Sakura this time. Cerezo's comeback didn't materialise, and in the final minute substitute Katsurama Fumina made sure with Ange Violet's fourth and final goal.

Ange Violet travel the relatively short journey west to Fukuoka to face an Anclas side in serious disarray, while Cerezo look to pick up their first points against Bunnys Kyoto, another side expected to struggle at the bottom.

Fukuoka J. Anclas  0 - 2  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 226)

A welcome victory for Ehime on their travels against a Fukuoka side looking increasingly forlorn. Kushiyama Saki scored the first for the visitors on sixteen minutes, and although Fukuoka had more of the chances, it was Ehime who took all three points, sealed with an 80th minute goal from substitute Tagami Natsumi.

Having disappointingly lost their opening game, Ehime now have won two in a row and are moving up the table. They're next match is at home to Nojima, also on six points. The increasingly desperate Fukuoka must try to get all three points from their first match against newly promoted Ange Violet Hiroshima.

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  3 - 1  AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies
(Attendance: 100)

Nagano's promotion challenge has faltered early in the season, and their failure to take even a point back from their trip to Miyagi will have hurt them.

Shiraki Akari followed up on her brace from last week to open the scoring in the eleventh minute but Nagano soon equalised, with Yokoyama Kumi getting her fourth of the season. Things looked even throughout the game, though Nagano did exert more pressure on the Tokiwagi goal than their opponents on theirs.

With two minutes remaining, Tokiwagi snatched the points, Sugihara Haruna scoring with an assist from Kobayashi Rikako, and Kobayashi was again involved moments later in additional time when Sugihara scored again to put the tie to rest.

Nagano will surely have enough to beat manager Honda Midori's old side Shimizu next Sunday, to take them onto seven points and with the leaders still in touch. Tokiwagi Gakuen made the trip to the west coast when they take on the Japan Soccer College Ladies in Shibata.

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School:

AS Harima Albion  1 - 0  Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades
(Attendance: 1,300)

AS Harima Albion's remarkable start to their first season continues, with an estimated 1,300 spectators attracted to see their opening home game. For the third consecutive game, the home side won by a 1-0 scoreline as they retain their perfect record. Although far superior to their opposition, it wasn't until the 59th minute that they scored with their most senior player, Fujimoto Madoka, finishing off a move involving former Charme player Murakawa Saki and former Belle player Sakai Nozomi.

Harima are away again next week, against the struggling Shizuoka Sangyo. Shimizu travel to Nagano hoping to escape with a draw.

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita  1 - 2  JFA Academy Fukushima
(Attendance: 113)

Shizuoka Sangyo's hopes of promotion have been dealt another serious blow, as the JFA Academy took full advantage of defensive indiscipline to pick up their first points of the season.

The match had started well for Shizuoka Sangyo, and they took the lead after 24 minutes, Oda Kanna scoring from an assist by Hirano Asami. However, their attack was stifled thereafter, and they produced no shots at goal in the second half as the Academy took over.

The match turned with ten minutes remaining. The Academy were awarded a penalty and Shizuoka defender Nishiyama Mei was sent off. Okuma Rana scored the equaliser and with Shizuoka now in disarray the visitors took full advantage, with Okuma supplying Kitagawa Hikaru for the winning goal two minutes later.

Shizuoka Sangyo will be determined to recover well against high-flying Harima, with the JFA Academy also at home, to Sfida Setagaya.
