Challenge League Fourteenth Round

Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies  0 - 7  Tokiwagi Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 237)

A heavy thunderstorm wasn't enough to slow down Tokiwagi Gakuen as they moved level at the top overnight with a heavy defeat of Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies in Sakai on Saturday evening. Ito Miki showed her class in scoring a hat-trick, Shiraki Akari scored twice to keep up her good record this year and Kawasaki Saya and Sasaki Miwa also scored one each, the latter with her twelfth in as many games. Tokiwagi Gakuen look like contenders for their third title in four years, and it will be fascinating to see how they perform against the teams in the A Block. Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies next play Nojima Stella Kanagawa in what will be another stern test.

Nojima Stella Kanagawa  8 - 0  Je Vrille Kagoshima
(Attendance: 326)

Kagoshima once again were heavily beaten and it appears to be simply a matter of time before they are relegated to the Kyushu League. For Nojima their top scorers Yoshimi, Inoue and Kanai all scored twice, with one each for Yamane and Nagasawa, with the former scoring a well deserved first of the season. More notably, club captain Oyama Saki appeared as a substitute in the second half, making her first appearance for the club having just recovered from injury. Nojima take on Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies in Sakai on the 27th as the league now enters the final stages. Kagoshima will take on Tokiwagi Gakuen on Sunday and all expectations are for a very easy win for the schoolgirls.

AS Elfen Sayama FC  2 - 0  Nittaidai Football Club Ladies
(Attendance: 326)

Sayama's largest home crowd of the season turned out to see the debut performance of Ohno Shinobu, recently returned from an unhappy spell in France. By the time of her entry into the game in the 37th minute Sayama were already a goal up through Ito Kanako and were quite comfortable against a Nittaidai side missing their three biggest names. Nittaidai fought well but couldn't really get things going as they had against Nojima, and a goal just before the end for Arakawa Eriko relieved any nerves in the home camp. Sayama next play Hoyo whom they should be very comfortable victors against; Nittaidai face the JFA Academy next Saturday.

Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades  1 - 4  JFA Academy Fukushima
(Attendance: 159)

Even against an almost completely new Academy side, neighbours Pleiades were helpless to stop the schoolgirls from inflicting what may be another damaging defeat. The Academy began with Hannah Stambaugh in goal for the first time this season, and also making their first appearances were Chiba Nanami, Fuji Nanako and Iseri Natsuki, who scored a goal in the second half to restore the Academy's lead, Miyagawa having equalised for Pleiades with her first of the season. Okuma Ran had given the visitors the lead, and two late goals from Tsukamoto and Takeda added some gloss. Pleiades next take on the resurgent Nagano, the JFA Academy take on Nittaidai whom they beat quite recently.

AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies  2 - 1  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 290)

Having made a very poor start to the season, Nagano have now improved significantly and have now picked up thirteen points from their last five games. Ehime have been very disappointing this season, and although they took the lead through the impressive Kushiyama Saki, were subsequently overwhelmed by the Nagano midfield and attack and just before half time Uchiyama fired in the equaliser. Having pushed on strongly in the second half, Uchiyama found Hamagaki through the middle and she finished the chance off to give Nagano revenge for their earlier defeat to Ehime, and at the same time push themselves up into ninth position. With upcoming games against Kagoshima and Pleiades to come, the Nagano management will be very confident of continuing their good run.

Fukuoka J. Anclas  0 - 4  Sfida Setagaya FC
(Attendance: 459)

Very contrasting fortunes await these teams. With this win Setagaya stay top and have now destiny in their own hands. While they will be naturally most wary of the threat of Sayama, Nojima Stella Kanagawa, Nittaidai and the JFA Academy all lie in wait in the final eight games. Fukuoka, who had started so well, now appear to be completely out of the running for promotion and must rebuild for another challenge next year. Usui Rie scored twice, and on both occasion headed in from a set-piece. Shano Miki and Nagasawa Yume also scored, and three of the goals were created by one of this year's outstanding players, Shimojo Aya. Setagaya have now regained their confidence though will be aware of the threat from the Academy in their next match. Fukuoka are at home to Nittaidai, who will be back to full strength.
