Nadeshiko League Division 1 2008

The Nadeshiko League's Division 1 again consisted of eight teams in 2008, and its season ran from April 12th until November 23rd, with a break for the Olympic Games, held in Beijing in August.


The format used by the league in 2007 was again used in 2008, with three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. Each team would play each other thrice. The bottom team would be automatically relegated (replaced by the winner of Division 2) and the second-from-bottom would enter a play-off with the Division 2 runners-up.

However, on October 10th Tasaki Shinju Co., Ltd. announced that they would be withdrawing sponsorship from their women's football team to the shock and dismay of all involved in the game. Since no new sponsor could be found, the club was disbanded. Therefore it was decided that the team finishing bottom of the division would take part in a play-off with the team finishing second in Division 2. The team finishing second-from-bottom would continue to participate in Division 1.

NTV Beleza won their eleventh title, and their fourth in a row.

Having finished bottom, Iga FC Kunoichi proceeded to play Speranza FC Takatsuki who finished second in Division 2 for the right to play in Division 1 in 2009. They lost and were relegated.
