Challenge League Nineteenth Round

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  6 - 1  Nojima Stella Kanagawa
(Attendance: 150)

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School today brushed aside the challenge of Nojima Stella Kanagawa with the swagger and confidence of a side who believe they can beat anyone. Their passing, movement and shooting were at times mesmerising, and the visitors showed almost no repsonse whatsoever. Ito Miki, diminutive but speedy and determined, once again tore apart an opposing defence down the right and as early as the ninth minute had the schoolgirls in front. Taking the ball from Ichise, she cut inside from the right and powered a shot home past Kobayashi, returned to the starting lineup following a one-match ban.

Nojima responded well, and a through pass found Kinjo and she was through on goal when Fukumura came rushing out of goal and tackled her to give away a free kick, but there was no card shown. Nojima's outstanding Yoshimi Natsuki stepped up and scored her twentieth of the season direct from the free kick. For the next ten minutes Nojima were enthusiastic and seemed to have gotten the measure of Tokiwagi Gakuen, but the home side eventually came back strongly and four minutes before half-time were back in front. Shiraki and Ito combined well and Ito's pass back to Nishikawa saw her lash home her ninth of the season.

In the second half Nojima barely got a touch of the ball, and indeed managed no shots at goal whatsoever, as Tokiwagi Gakuen were simply too much for them in every area of the field. Ito had her second on 57 minutes, Sugihara Haruna providing after a fine interception. Hirata Miki scored a rare goal seven minutes later to wrap things up, though there were two late goals to further emphasise Tokiwagi's domination. Shiraki knew little about her goal, a ricochet off her leg from a Kawasaki cross looping over Kobayshi into the net, and the final goal also was a scrappy goal, Kobayashi failing to deal with Kobayashi Rikako's shot and Mitsuhashi following up to scramble the ball over the line.

Nojima have major work to do over the winter in defence if they are to challenge next year, while Tokiwagi Gakuen look like the complete package this year. Nojima next face Setagaya in a big local derby in Sagamihara on Sunday, while on Saturday Tokiwagi Gakuen travel south to take on Sayama knowing a win will give them their third title in four years, though their two Challenge League East titles would pale into insignificance if they can take the Challenge League title this season.

Kobayashi dives in vain as Ito Miki's fine strike, following a blistering run down the right,
gives Tokiwagi Gakuen the early lead

Fukumura Kanae fouls Kinjo outside the box following a good Nojima break

Nojima's top scorer Yoshimi Natsuki exacts revenge by blasting home a trademark free kick

Nishikawa Ayaka made an impressive forward run and took this powerful shot...

...to once again give Tokiwagi Gakuen the lead in the 41st minute

Nojima gave the ball away cheaply to half-time substitute Sugihara Haruna (18)...

...and her pass saw the impressive Ito score her second of the day

A ricochet off Shiraki Akari (14) saw the ball loop over Kobayashi
for the home side's fifth of the afternoon

Bunnys Kyoto SC  2 - 1  Nittaidai Football Club Ladies
(Attendance: 170)

Bunnys Kyoto had a good win over Nittaidai, who once again left many of their top players at home to compete in the Kanto University's League. Bunnys have made enormous improvements in defence from last season, but are still not scoring enough to threaten the top half of the table. Yu Ji Eun scored her first goal of the season to give Bunnys the half-time lead, though shortly after the restart Uchida Misuzu, by far and away Nittaidai's top scorer, equalised off a Kitano Rie through pass. Yamada Maho showed the value of her loan deal as she intercepted a stray pass and shot home the winner just five minutes later to give Bunnys all three points. Bunnys remain twelfth, but have gained on the two sides above them and can still finish in the top ten, with a trip to the JFA Academy next Sunday. On the same day Nittaidai play Ehime, though the likelihood is again that their most impressive players will not take part.

Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies  1 - 2  Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita
(Attendance: 136)

Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies came within moments of a fine draw with Shizuoka Sangyo, only for captain Sayama Momoko to once again show her determination with a late goal to give the away side all three points. Shizuoka's top scorer Nishiyama Mei gave her side the lead on 17 minutes, with Maegawa Miki equalising with her first of the season seventeen minutes later. Shizuoka made two changes at half-time and it was the substitute Hirano who found Sayama and her volley found the back of the net to keep her side within touch of the top five. Nine points behind Setagaya and with only three games remaining, the chances of a promotion play-off are now almost non-existant, though Shizuoka are still capable of winning their final three games and of a top five finish. The Cerezo girls are thirteenth and will almost certainly finish in that position. This was their final home game and it attracted the lowest attendance of all of their games, though an overall average of 269 for the season will have pleased the management. They next play Kagoshima while Shizuoka Sangyo host Nagano.

Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies:

Fukunaga Erika (capt), Matsubara Shiho, Shima Ayana, Azuma Manami, Morinaka Hina, Wakisaka Reina, Inoue Hina, Hayashi Honoka, Maegawa Miki, Tanaka Mika, Takarada Saori

Unused subs: Terada Ikumi, Takahata Airi
Scorers: Nishiyama Mei (17 mins), Sayama Momoko (90 mins)

Ehime FC Ladies  1 - 5  AS Elfen Sayama FC
(Attendance: 270)

Nakada Maiko, back in the Ehime starting lineup, gave Sayama a scare midway through the first half of this encounter, with her ninth goal of the season. Ehime's lead lasted barely three minutes though, as Sayama came roaring back through Suzuki Kaoruko, making her very first start following ten substitute appearances this season. In the second half Sayama pulled away to gurantee at least a play-off place come the end of the season. Two penalties were scored by Sayama in the second half, the first by Ito and the second by Muraoka. In between those goals was a brace for Saito Yuri, who is on a good run of form with four goals in as many games. More disappointment for Ehime then, with a difficult trip to play Nittaidai next. All eyes will be on the big game next weekend, the meeting between the top two in Konosu on Saturday evening. A win for Tokiwagi Gakuen guarantees them the title, any other result and the wait is prolonged for at least another week.

Ehime FC Ladies:
Ueno Yukiko, Kushiyama Saki, Onoyama Nana, Mukaidani Ayaka, Nishimura Nozomi, Yamashiro Miyuki, Akune Mana, Ogawa Manami, Kawamura Akari, Nakada Maiko, Nishigawa Sayumi (capt)

Unused subs: Kobayashi Maiko
Scorers: Suzuki Kaoruko (25 mins), Ito Kanako (50 mins, pen), Saito Yuri (52, 71 mins), Muraoka Natsuki (90 mins, pen)

Hoyo Sukarabu FC  0 - 3  Je Vrille Kagoshima

(Attendance: 116)

It now looks likely that both Kagoshima and Hoyo will be relegated to the Kyushu League as neither side looks to have enough to crawl out of the bottom two. Despite Kagoshima's win - their first of the season - their goal difference is so poor that they will need something extraordinary to occur for them to overtake Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades. Hoyo Sukarabu look doomed, with only four goals in all games and with tough games to come, their only hope seems to be a victory against Pleiades in two weeks' time. In this game, Oh Yu Sun was the heroine for Kagoshima as she netted twice, with Saito Toshiko scoring the final goal. Kagoshima next take on Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies needing another win, with Hoyo travelling to Niigata to take on the JSC Ladies.

Hoyo Sukarabu FC:
Umemura Minami, Suzu Arisa, Wada Mari, Kondo Nanami, Hashimoto Emiko, Matsumoto Mei, Kiyosue Chihiro, Sato Mitsuki, Himeno Kanako (capt), Hanabusa Misa, Kugimiya Risa

Unused subs: Katsuo Hitomi, Kusuno Kaho

Je Vrille Kagoshima:
Nakagawa Yoshimi, Sakamoto Ayaka, Yamada Kaori, Hirata Misato, Murai Kaori, Fukuishi Konan, Imanaka Yuri, Saito Toshiko, Mitsudome Kanami, Sannomiya Shiki (capt), Oh Yu Sun
Unused subs: Konishi Momoka, Kim So Young, Sakamoto Kanna, Kawai Minami
Scorers: Oh Yu Sun (14, 60 mins), Saito Toshiko (86 mins)

Sfida Setagaya FC  6 - 1  Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades
(Attendance: 362)

Sfida Setagaya moved into third in the table with this very easy win over Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades, though they did surprisingly allow Pleiades to equalise Usuda's opener in the first half. Having reasserted themselves, they eventually pulled away with ease and remain five points behind Sayama in second. Mori Hitomi added another goal to her account to remain the league's top scorer, league debutant Shimojo Aya has been very impressive and scored twice, the first from a free kick. Young Nagasawa Yume also scored a brace in the second half. Setagaya next play local rivals Nojima Stella Kanagawa in a game they cannot afford to lose, with the following game a showdown with Sayama. Pleiades may survive the season despite this defeat, though they are likely to be defeated again next week against Fukuoka. Their focus is now on the following game against Hoyo Sukarabu. A win in that game will almost certainly mean survival.

Sfida Setagaya FC:

Kawaguchi Mana, Hori Yoshie, Tanaka Marina (capt), Okada Ayame, Fukuhara Nao, Mori Hitomi, Tanaka Mariko, Shimojo Aya, Nagasawa Yume, Usuda Haruka, Nagata Maya
Subs: Ishibuchi Yuki (Hori Yoshie, 53 mins), Kawashima Tamai (Nagasawa Yume, 67 mins), Oshima Sayuri (Usuda Haruka, 67 mins), Kuwahara Yoshie (Nagata Maya, 83 mins)
Unused subs: Osaki Aimi

Subs: Sato Masami (Maruyama Kimi, 37 mins), Inoue Yurie (Suwabe Wakana, HT), Hirukawa Mio (Oda Sayaka, 73 mins), Sato Mariko (Kobayashi Natsumi, 84 mins)
Scorers: Matsushita Norimi (27 mins)

AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies  0 - 3  JFA Academy Fukushima

(Attendance: 327)

Having already taken the lead in the 14th minute, the Academy's task was made all the easier when Nagano's ever-present Hamagaki Kana was sent off in first half additional time for a second bookable offence. The Academy had made seven changes for this fixture, bringing back all of their prominent players, and they made light work of the home side. By the time of the sending off they were 1-0 up, Kadoi Megumi with her third goal in just her second appearance this year. After the break the always reliable Norimatsu Ruka and Kojima Miku added goals to make the scoreline emphatic. Kojima now has a shots-to-goals ratio of 50%, and is likely to end this season top of this rankings, just as she did in 2012. The Academy take on Bunnys next week at home, with Nagano away to Shizuoka Sangyo.

AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies:
Matsumoto Azumi, Shinohara Shihoko, Tanaka Nami (capt), Hatano Saki, Hashiura Satsuki, Uchiyama Tomoyo, Yoshida Aoi, Takagi Nao, Uchiyama Tomoka, Hamagaki Kana, Urasaki Yuka

Unused subs: Asano Natsumi, Takahashi Fuko, Ueda Yuriko
Scorers: Kadoi Megumi (14 mins), Norimatsu Ruka (75 mins), Kojima Miku (89 mins)

Fukuoka J. Anclas  1 - 0  Japan Soccer College Ladies
(Attendance: 286)

In a game of very few chances in poor weather in Kurume, Fukuoka finally got the breakthrough through an own goal in the 56th minute, though credit must be given to Fujimoto Yuki whose fine play down the right created the chance. Fukuoka stay in contention but are now reliant on other teams beating Setagaya in order for them to make the play-off spot. They next travel to Shizuoka to take on Pleiades in a game they'll certainly expect to win; the JSCL are at home to bottom side Hoyo. They remain eleventh after this defeat.

Fukuoka J. Anclas:
Jung Seul Won, Iimura Ami, Hanada Aiko (capt), Ito Chisa, Kurahara Honami, Ukita Kotone, Doshita Misato, Yoshizawa Ai, Shibuya Yumiko, Fujimoto Yuki, Tagashira Yoko

The regional inter-collegiate competitions which provide for qualification to the national finals in December and January begin this weekend in the Kanto region.

In Kanto this year, Juntendo University and Tokyo International University have been promoted to the first division, replacing Kokushikan University and Keio University. Summer Transfers in the Japan Women's Football League

Although not great in number, there have been some interesting moves between clubs since the beginning of the season. Coming into the Nadeshiko League for the first time is Otaki Ami, who joined Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies from Olympique Lyon in June. The Waseda University graduate made her first appearance for her new side recently in the Nadeshiko League Cup. Going to Europe is INAC Kobe Leonessa's Tanaka Asuna, who moved to Frankfurt, also in June.

In July INAC Kobe's Yamada Maho, yet to appear for her new club, moved to Bunnys Kyoto for a loan spell and immediately made an impact, scoring on her first appearance. Going the other way, the JFA Academy's impressive Miyake Shiori has joined INAC Kobe for a loan period with a view to a permanent move upon completion of the school year in March. Miyake made an immediate impact at the higher level, scoring the only goal to beat Iga FC Kunoichi in her second game.

A similar arrangement exists with goalkeeper Yamashita Ayaka of Murata Girls' High School, who has moved temporarily to NTV Beleza. From NTV Menina, Beleza's youth side, Toriumi Yuka, Miyagawa Asato and Miura Narumi were brought into the full side for the Nadeshiko League Cup, and all three made one appearance.

Albirex Niigata Ladies also brought several players into their top team from their U-18 side: Watanabe Rina, Sekura Haruhi, Takizawa Rio, Nakamura Shiori, Fujii Tsumigi and Takahashi Tomoko, though none of these have yet to appear at senior level this season.

JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies made a move for Kawamura Mari of Fukuoka J. Anclas in April and she immediately became a starting member, celebrating her move with a goal on her first appearance. Speranza FC Osaka Takatsuki signed their third Thai international player in June, Naphat Seesraum, as they look to strengthen their side for the second half of the season.

Takatsuki have loaned Yoshizawa Ai to Fukuoka J. Anclas and one of their goalkeepers, Nakamura Saki, has decided to focus on studying and playing for Osaka International University until her graduation, after which she intends to return to top-level football.

Also leaving the Nadeshiko League are Takai Yuna of Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies and Park Youn Jeong of Albirex Niigata Ladies.

In the Challenge League the most notable transfer was that of Ohno Shinobu to AS Elfen Sayama from Olympique Lyon. Thus far she has played on four occasions and scored on two of those, and with Sayama looking good for promotion, will be looking forward to playing in the Nadeshiko League again before long. Also joining Sayama is Hara Ayumi, who last played in the league in 2009 for INAC Kobe Leonessa and whose primary role for Sayama is that of coach.

Yu Ji Eun joined Bunnys Kyoto at the end of April and has been a regular starter ever since, while Ehime's Shigemoto Shiho, who had only played once since joining from Okayama Yunogo Belle this season, retired from the side. Finally, Kim Kyoung Sin has left Fukuoka J. Anclas, though unlike Shigemoto she had been a regular starter for Fukuoka.

Challenge League Eighteenth Round

Nittaidai Football Club Ladies  0 - 2  AC Nagano Parceiro Ladies
(Attendance: 116)

With many of Nittaidai's top players not playing due to the beginning of the Kanto Universities' League, some of their younger players started in their place and Nagano, resurgent this season under Honda Midori, struck twice to move themselves onto twenty-eight points, five clear of Ehime in tenth position. Captain Tanaka Nami and top scorer Uchiyama Tomoka were the heroines for Nagano, the former heading in a Yoshida corner kick and the latter shooting in from a pass from Aoshima Miyabi. Japan Soccer College Ladies  1 - 4  Sfida Setagaya FC
(Attendance: 86)

Mori Hitomi's goal scoring was impressive in 2012, and she has improved significantly this season, leading the scoring charts with twenty-three goals, two of which came in this important victory over the JSCL. Mori opened the scoring in the first half following a corner kick - indeed three of Setagaya's goals came from such situations, and she also scored the final goal in additional time to keep Setagaya in the hunt for automatic promotion. Tomiyama Hitomi and Tanaka Marina also scored for the visitors, with the JSCL just managing one goal, a superb, electrifying goal from Toriumi Mai, who has now reached ten for the season. Setagaya are at home to Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades next week in a game they must surely win; the JSCL are away to another side looking for promotion, Fukuoka J. Anclas.

AS Elfen Sayama FC  2 - 0  Bunnys Kyoto SC
(Attendance: 527)

Sayama did enough to see off a resilient Bunnys Kyoto side today to remain in pole position for an immediate return to the Nadeshiko League. Two of last season's star performers in the Nadeshiko League scored, Ohno Shinobu scoring in the 26th minute from a pass by Ito Kanako, who herself scored a penalty in the second half - her eighteenth of the season. Sayama are five points ahead of nearest rivals Setagaya and have a far superior goal difference. Their next match is against Ehime and they will expect another straightforward win to move them one step closer to promotion; Bunnys are at home to Nittaidai who are now focussing their energies on the Kanto Universities' League.

JFA Academy Fukushima  2 - 2  Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies
(Attendance: 60)

An entertaining game in Gotenba ended in a draw as both sides brought in some of their lesser-used players. Cerezo Osaka Sakai took the lead through Tanaka Mika, with a fine through ball from Morinaka Hina setting her up. Having had no shots in the first half, the Academy brought in four of their more regular players at half-time and came back with through goals through the ever-impressive Kojima Miku, who once again this year leads the goals-per-shots ratio for the Challenge League. Cerezo weren't to be beaten though, and found an equaliser through Morinaka with fifteen minutes remaining to earn a creditable draw. This result, coupled with those of the sides below them, has guaranteed the young side of another season in the Challenge League next year. They next take on Shizuoka at home on Saturday; the Academy are away to Nagano on Sunday.

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita  0 - 0  Hoyo Sukarabu FC

(Attendance: 100)

A shock result which simultaneously damages any chance Shizuoka Sangyo had of a promotion playoff and gives Hoyo a boost in their battle against relegation. Shizuoka battered the Hoyo goal all throughout the match but could not find a way through and the visitors held on for their very first point in the Challenge League. The draw moves Hoyo ahead of Kagoshima and a win over the bottom side next week could see Hoyo climb over Pleiades into fourteenth position and safety - with the deciding tie on September 15th between those two sides. For Shizuoka there is only disappointment, but they have performed exceptionally well this year. Their next game is away to Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies and they will look to bounce back ahead of three further games they will feel capable of winning.

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita:

Unused subs: Katsuo Hitomi, Kusuno Kaho

Nojima Stella Kanagawa  5 - 0  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 164)

Ehime have had a poor second season and their struggles continued in Sagamihara today as Nojima Stella Kanagawa powered past them in the second half with a five goal blitz, ahead of their showdown with Tokiwagi Gakuen in Miyagi Stadium next weekend. Nojima's high scorers this year have been Yoshimi Natsuki, Kanai Nanae and Inoue Yurie and all three were on the scoresheet. Yoshimi scored twice to bring her season's total to a remarkable nineteen, with Kanai and Inoue both scoring once to bring their totals to thirteen. Substitute Saito Haruna added the fifth in additional time. Nojima remain third and although nine points behind Tokiwagi and unlikely to win the league, they will be hoping to finish as high as possible in advance of next season's promotion attempt. Ehime next play Sayama and will hope to shore up their defence as a first priority.

Nojima Stella Kanagawa:
Nanjo Masayo, Terada Reiko, Yoshida Ayaka, Sakamoto Juri, Goto Maika, Yamane Hikari, Oyama Saki (capt), Kinjo Airi, Yoshimi Natsuki, Inoue Yurie, Kanai Nanae

Je Vrille Kagoshima  0 - 5  Fukuoka J. Anclas
(Attendance: 176)

Fukuoka J. Anclas kept up the pressure on Sfida Setagaya with a very easy win over Kyushu rivals Je Vrille Kagoshima. The first goal was scored within a minute by Shibuya Yumiko, although it wasn't until the 58th minute that the away side had their second goal, top scorer Tagashira Yoko heading in a Shibya cross. With Kagoshima only managing one shot in the entire match, Fukuoka were never in any danger and three more goals followed in the final half-hour. Doshita Misato scored twice, the second direct from a corner kick, with substitute Nomura Haruka scoring the other, her first for the club. They now face the JSCL at home needing to win to retain hopes of a promotion playoff, while Kagoshima are looking more and more like they will be relegated. They now sit bottom of the table with an appalling goal difference, and their next game against Hoyo Sukarabu is a must-win. Even if they do win, they are still likely to finish in the bottom two.

Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades  0 - 5  Tokiwagi Gakuen High School

(Attendance: 114)

Tokiwagi Gakuen ran out easy winners against Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades, though they had to wait until the 37th minute before taking the lead, Hirata Miki scoring her first of the season from the spot. Two minutes later Sugihara Haruna kept up her good run with her sixth goal in as many games, following up after Hirata had hit the crossbar. Three goals in fifteen minutes in the second half settled the game and Tokiwagi Gakuen retained their four point gap at the top with four games remaining. The scorers were defender Kakinoka Runa, also scoring her first of the season, with another two for substitute Mitsuhashi Asuka. Pleiades had little going forward but still may survive the season, with the critical game being that against Hoyo on September 15th. They next play Setagaya and are unlikely to win. Tokiwagi are at home to Nojima Stella Kanagawa, by far the best of the promoted teams, and it will be a much tougher proposition.

Challenge League Summer Games

Some games will be played during the summer outside of the normal schedule. Their details will appear here.

Nittaidai Football Club Ladies  1 - 0  JFA Academy Fukushima
(Attendance: 104)
Played on July 13th

Nittaidai gained revenge over the Academy following their recent loss in Gotenba, with Nakashima Hikari scoring just second of the season from a through pass from captain Oguri Mao. The Academy had brought back all of their big names for this match, with the younger players rested following last week's short trip to play Pleiades. Despite the return of the senior players, the away side were unable to produce much in attack, and Nittaidai held firm for only their third clean sheet this season. They move into sixth, replacing the Academy who are now a point behind. Nittaidai have a break until the 28th when they take on Fukuoka J. Anclas; the JFA Academy are away to Setagaya on the 20th.

Je Vrille Kagoshima  0 - 7  Tokiwagi Gakuen High School
(Attendance: 218)
Played on July 14th

Kagoshima were again overrun all over the field as the ever-impressive Tokiwagi Gakuen ran riot in Satsumasendai. The most notable aspect of the game was that the visitors' seven goals were scored by seven different players. Last season the team's success was built around Michigami Ayaka, whose size and strength often overwhelmed the opposing defenders. This season the team has played more creative and entertaining football and has quality in every department. Having won the Challenge League East in their first two seasons (2010 and 2011), the Sendai school side may once again return to the summit. Kagoshima are looking likely to be relegated.

Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies  2 - 2  Japan Soccer College Ladies
(Attendance: 219)
Played on July 14th

Both sides will be happy enough with a point from this encounter, although the JSCL had the majority of the attacking play. Their outstanding player of 2012 was Toriumi Mai, and she opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a solo effort - her sixth of the season. Tanaka Mika equalised four minutes later from a Wakisaka Reina pass - the latter making her first start this season. Just a minute later the JSCL were back in front, Sanada Kasumi with her second in three appearances, with Toriumi supplying the final ball. In the second half Cerezo again equalised, Nojima heading in for her first of the season in her first start in nine games. Neither side is in any danger of relegation and will continue to develop young players for next season. The JSCL are at home to Shizuoka Sangyo next Saturday; Cerezo Osaka Sakai next take on high-flying fellow debutantes Nojima Stella Kanagawa on the 27th.

Hoyo Sukarabu FC  0 - 2  Bunnys Kyoto SC
(Attendance: 30)
Played on July 15th

Despite some big name signings Bunnys have not had a good season, though they still had too much for a poor Hoyo Sukarabu side. Yamada Maho, on loan from INAC Kobe Leonessa scored on her first ever league appearance after nineteen minutes and with Toyoda Nayuha scoring a second just before half time, Hoyo were never likely to come back to rescue a point they desperately need. They play Tokiwagi Gakuen next weekend and look to have no hope of taking anything from that game. Their only hope now is to beat Pleiades and take at least a point from Je Vrille Kagoshima, and then to hope those sides lose all of their remaining games. With this victory Bunnys move onto thirteen points, one more than their total from last season, but they have again been disappointing. Their next match is at home to the JSC Ladies on the 28th.

Hoyo Sukarabu FC:

Sfida Setagaya FC  1 - 4  JFA Academy Fukushima
(Attendance: 623)
Played on July 20th

Sfida Setagaya may yet gain their first promotion to the Nadeshiko League this season, but they certainly aren't making it easy for themselves. Having lost twice to Tokiwagi Gakuen High School, today they lost their third game of the season to schoolgirl opposition. The JFA Academy tore into the Setagaya defence from the off and were three goals up before half an hour. Thirteen-year-old Takahira Miyu scored her first league goal from a through pass from Kojima Miku, who stepped up herself to score the second from the spot. Kojima is the Academy's top scorer this year with eight, with Okuma Rana in second place, her sixth of the season coming in the 28th minute. Tanaka Marina has barely played this year for Setagaya, but pulled a goal back on 56 minutes but there was no lasting revival from the league leaders, Kojima scoring the decisive fourth goal with fourteen minutes remaining. Setagaya still have their destiny in their own hands, and can still automatically be promoted, though it looks as though they cannot afford to drop any more points. They next play Shizuoka Sangyo on the fourth of August, the sixth-placed Academy take on Fukuoka J. Anclas, one place above them, on the previous day.

Sfida Setagaya FC:
Kawaguchi Mana, Fukuhara Nao, Okada Ayame, Usui Rie, Nagata Maya, Tanaka Mariko, Usuda Haruka, Shimojo Aya, Tanaka Marina (capt), Nagasawa Yume, Mori Hitomi

Sent off: Kawaguchi Mana

Shizuoka Sangyo University Iwata Bonita  3 - 1  Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades
(Attendance: 167)
Played on August 18th

Shizuoka Sangyo won again today to move to within seven points of Sfida Setagaya, currently in the promotion play-off position. Although unlikely to make up the ground in the remaining five games, they have improved this year and have developed their young players well. Pleiades will probably survive this season, but will need significant improvement over the winter. Okuda Mika and Ishida Risa, two players dropped to the bench for the last two games, came into the starting lineup and both scored in the first sixteen minutes. In the 68th minute young Shirai Aoi scored the decisive goal, and though Miyagawa Tomoko pulled one back with sixteen minutes remaining - her second in consecutive games - Shizuoka had no trouble holding on and winning their second local derby of the season. They next play Hoyo Sukarabu expecting a heavy win; Pleiades will try their best against division leaders Tokiwagi Gakuen High School.

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  8 - 3  Ehime FC Ladies
(Attendance: 120)
Played on August 21st

Having had their third round meeting with Ehime postponed until today due to a snowstorm, Tokiwagi Gakuen had until now a game in hand on the other sides in the top reaches of the division. With this outstanding fixture now completed, the school side now stand four points clear with all of the challengers facing five more matches. Ehime had run the leaders close in their first meeting but on this occasion Tokiwagi were determined to keep their winning run going with the title in sight. Ito Miki had a fine game on Sunday and scored within five minutes of kick off today. Ehime had an equaliser on 27 minutes, Yamashiro Miyuki with her first of the season. Tokiwagi responded to this setback immediately as Komori Aoi, making her first start after six substitute appearances, scored her third of the season. Two more goals came for Tokiwagi as they looked to pull ahead for good, Sugihara Haruna and Hirakuni Mizuki both netting. Tokiwagi graudate Nakada Maiko pulled one back for Ehime just on half time but it was already looking to be an impossible task to turn the game around. In the second half Tokiwagi scored four more with just one reply from Ehime - Kuzuma Riyo heading in four minutes before the end. Sugihara scored both before and after that goal for her first hat-trick for the team in the league, with the other two goals coming from the impressive Nishikawa Ayaka and Mitamura Momoko. Last season Michigami Ayaka monopolised the scoring for the team, but this year Tokiwagi have players all over the field who can score, and this has contributed significantly to their success. They next face Shimizu Daihachi Pleiades and will be expected to win very handsomely. Ehime are away to Nojima Stella Kanagawa and may struggle again. With five difficult games remaining, their main aim will be to match last year's points total of twenty-six, which they are currently three points short of.
